How would you like to be the winner of a brand new 40-inch flat panel television? You very well could be, but you need to buy your raffle ticket soon. Don and Nila Carter and the Liberty Regional Foundation are hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Lisa Marie Carter Rehab Center at Liberty Regional Medical Center. All proceeds will go directly to the foundation to be used for the purchase of a new echocardiograph machine.
Fundraising efforts consist of tickets sales for the raffle as well as smoked Boston butts. The freshly smoked Boston butts will be ready for pickup Aug. 23 from a designated location in the parking lot of Liberty Regional. The drawing for the television also will be held during that time. Ticket holders do not need to be present to win.
Equipment to be purchased with proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to perform echocardiography - a test that uses sound waves to create images of the heart. It provides doctors with information about the size and shape of the heart and how well the heart's chambers and valves are working.
The test can also identify areas of heart muscle that aren't contracting normally due to poor blood flow or injury from previous heart attacks. Echocardiography can detect possible blood clots inside the heart, fluid build-up in the sac around the heart (pericardium), and problems with the aorta, the main artery that carries oxygen-rich blood out of the heart).
Fundraising efforts are now under way but will be ending in the near future. All interested parties are asked to please purchase your tickets today for a freshly smoked Boston butt and a chance to win the 40-inch flat panel television that Don and Nila donated for this purpose.
Tickets are on sale at The Heritage Bank's main office and drive-thru as well as the Liberty Regional Gift Shop.
