Three Hinesville residents who tried to assist when a hit-and-run driver claimed the life of 23-month-old Dakarai Thompkins on July 4 were recognized by Hinesville city officials Thursday. Mayor Jim Thomas presented certificates for citizen involvement to Lauren and Nicholas Frost and Luther James Frazier. Frazier tried to perform CPR on Dakarai when the child was thrown from his stroller after being hit by a car. The driver, DyShawn Davis, 19, was charged with vehicular homicide in the first degree.
