No health insurance? No problem. The Liberty County Health Department is hosting a special flu and COVID vaccination event on Friday, November 3, for individuals without health insurance.

The clinic is from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the health department at 1113 East Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville, and no appointment is needed. Anyone ages 6 months and older without insurance can get a free flu and COVID vaccination during the event.

“We want to ensure our community is protected as we move into late fall and winter, especially with all the family gatherings during the holidays,” said Liberty County Nurse Manager Jennifer Mele. “Health insurance shouldn’t be an obstacle, which is why we’re hosting this special event to provide free vaccine on a walk-in basis for our un-insured neighbors.”

The vaccines for flu and COVID are recommended for everyone over 6 months of age. Vaccination is particularly important for those at high risk of complications from respiratory illnesses, including adults 65 and older, children younger than 5, pregnant women, people with weakened immune systems, and people with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and heart disease.

It is safe to give flu and COVID vaccines at the same time.

Anyone with questions about the event is encouraged to call the Liberty County Health Department at 912-876-2173.
