Hinesville police keep burglars at bay
HPD patch

The Hinesville Police Department is helping citizens keep burglars at bay this holiday season for a second year with a crime prevention initiative called Collection for Your Protection.

“Everyone loves to get that new television for Christmas, but when you place the empty box on the curb outside of your home, you don’t realize that you are flashing an advertisement to burglars,” said Hinesville Chief of Police Bill Kirkendall.

A large dumpster has been placed at Highway 84 and Frasier Dr. across from McDonalds and in the parking lot of the old hospital for citizens to drop off empty holiday gift boxes. The dumpster will be in place on Monday, Dec. 24 and will remain available until Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Christmas trees, household garbage, yard waste or other such items are not allowed. For more information, contact the HPD at 912-368-8211.
