ATLANTA – The House Study Committee on Gang and Youth Violence Prevention, chaired by State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah), will hold a press conference and a meeting on Aug. 29, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Armstrong Center Ballroom at Georgia Southern University's Savannah Armstrong campus. Rep. Gilliard will hold a press conference at 9 a.m., and the study committee will meet from 9:20 a.m. – 3 p.m.
This meeting will address programs and wraparound services provided by state agencies and organizations that can combat and prevent gang and youth violence in Georgia.
Created by House Resolution 585 during the 2019 legislative session, the House Study Committee on Gang and Youth Violence Prevention will examine the rising rate of gang violence in Georgia and determine legislative recommendations for the 2020 legislative session.
