Housing authority partnerships provide food, gifts

This holiday season, 60 seniors received food baskets thanks to a partnership between Hinesville Housing Authority and the Fellowship of Love Church of God In Christ. For the third year, the two organizations joined resources to spread holiday cheer to residents of Liberty County who are 55 years and older.

“We have individuals from all backgrounds in our community who are in need of different things,” said Melanie Thompson, CEO of the Hinesville Housing Authority. “During Thanksgiving, we wanted to assist families within our community that need food to bring a little more cheer to their holiday celebration.”

The food baskets were delivered to residents on Nov. 19 and were received with thanks and heartfelt gratitude.

To continue their holiday giveaway program, Hinesville Housing Authority is partnering with the Hinesville Rotary Club for its annual Angel Tree donation. Students enrolled in the housing authority’s afterschool program will receive gifts on Dec. 18.

“We look forward to and welcome partnering and building new relationships with other community organizations in the upcoming year,” Thompson said.
