Howard edges Long County Rocket League squad Flying Tide

The Long County Blue Tide Rocket League team, Flying Tide, was back in action Thursday, March 14 as they took on the Howard Huskies. It was a close matchup but the Tide fell 3 games to 2.

It looked like the Flying Tide would roll to an easy match win after the won the first two games by shutout victories. In the first game, Isaac Garcia notched a hat trick scoring three goals.

Freshmen Cyrus Tyus and Demetrious Rivers both scored a goal in the game to give the Flying Tide a 5-0 win and a 1-0 series lead. Garcia had an assist and scored his final goal off a kickoff.

The second game belonged to Tyus as he scored both the Flying Tide’s goals. He scored the first in the first 30 seconds off an assist from Garcia. He scored the second with less than 90 seconds left to give the team a 2-0 win and a 2-0 series lead.

Howard took the next three games, however, winning 4-2, 3-2, and 5-3. Over the last three games, Garcia scored four goals, Tyus scored two and Rivers scored one.

With the loss, the Flying Tide fall to 1-3 on the season. They will be back in action on Thursday, March 21.
