Local teams at Howard Family Dental are working hard to ensure that all veterans laid to rest at Fort Stewart’s Warriors Walk are honored on National Wreaths Across America Day at noon Dec. 15.
This year, the Wreaths for Warriors Walk at Fort Stewart will be held simultaneously with other ceremonies across the country at more than 1,500 locations. The goal: to place a live, balsam fir wreath at the headstone of every veteran buried there and spread patriotism and commemoration for the ultimate sacrifices they made for our country.
“Over the 17 years of serving our community, Howard Family Dental Hinesville has had the privilege of caring for the brave men and woman of our nation’s military and their families based right down the street at Fort Stewart,” Dr. Joseph Merritt said. “To show our appreciation for the endless sacrifices and extreme dedication our military members and their families make for our country, we are proud supporters of the Wreaths for Warriors Walk. By participating in this fundraiser, we hope to commemorate the fallen soldiers and bring comfort and joy to their families who miss them dearly, especially during the holidays.”
From now until Dec. 3, Howard Family Dental will sell wreath sponsorships online and at various office locations to help sponsor the 500 wreaths needed to honor every veteran at Fort Stewart Warriors Walk. Each wreath sponsorship costs $15, with $5 going back to the Howard Family Dental Foundation, which helps fund the Howard Hand in Hand program at St. Joseph’s/Candler. Howard Hand in Hand is a free program that helps provide support, education and guidance to children and teens with a family member facing a life-threatening illness.

Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begun by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester in 1992.
