HPD Wants You to Attend Its Citizens’ Police Academy

HINESVILLE, Ga. (August 4, 2021) – If you were unable to attend the spring session of the Hinesville Police Department’s Citizens’ Police Academy, then now’s your chance. Learn everything you wanted to know about your local police department by signing up to participate in the fall 2021 session, which begins on Wednesday, Aug. 25. The Hinesville Police Department (HPD) is currently accepting applications for its Citizens’ Police Academy, which is a ten-week program that offers a unique vantage point into the inner workings of Hinesville’s police force. The Citizens’ Police Academy, which is offered annually in the fall and spring, is open to residents living in the city limits of Hinesville.

The Citizens’ Police Academy features different learning experiences in and out of the  classroom, along with hands-on demonstrations. This year’s course will feature a visit to the 911 Emergency Communications Center and a four-hour ride-along with an experienced Hinesville police officer. Some of the topics covered in the ten-week course, include:  

Georgia Law, Criminal Law and Investigations  

Patrol Operations, Traffic Laws and Accident Investigations 

 Response to Resistance  

Narcotic Investigations  and much more Sessions will take place every Wednesday night from 6-8 p.m. 

The first session will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 25, and the last session will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 27. All sessions will take place at the Hinesville Police Department, located at 123 E. M. L. King, Jr. Drive, unless otherwise communicated. Attendance is not mandatory for all sessions, but highly recommended. Participants must attend eight out of the ten sessions to graduate from the program.
