Local U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Savannah) got some good news this week when the world's largest business federation declared its support for his re-election bid.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce announced its endorsement of the eight-term congressman Tuesday, citing Kingston's continued support for pro-business legislation and understanding of America's place in the global market as reasons for its decision.
"At no other time in our nation's history has it been more critical that members of Congress provide leadership that protects and advances the interests of the business community," Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donahue said. "We believe that Congressman Kingston's election to the U.S. House will help produce sustained economic growth and promote America's competitiveness in world markets."
The U.S. Chamber serves as the voice of small business and represents thousands of local chamber organizations nationwide and abroad. The advancement of human progress through economic, political and social system based on individual freedom, incentive, initiative, opportunity and responsibility serves as its mission.
It is the organization's goal to help elect a pro-business Congress and work diligently in the interests of businesses large and small to advance legislation that encourages economic growth, job creation and a less intrusive federal government.
The group is the world's largest business coalition representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
"I appreciate the Chamber's support ... I have made it one of my top priorities to promote the type of economic growth that creates jobs," Kingston said of his latest endorsement. "I will continue working towards that end and towards giving every Georgian the tools they need to realize the American dream."
