LCSO spreads holiday joy
Liberty Co sheriffs patch WEB

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office closed out the holiday season giving away tons of toys and holiday meals to those in need throughout the county on Dec. 23.

Through Sheriff Steve Sikes’ Community outreach program, a 501C3 non-profit, individuals and community partners donated plenty of gifts and bicycles to give out to families.

“Today there were 60 families that we were able to bless,” Liberty County employee and program volunteer Annie Torres said. “There are 340 gifts going out and 20 bikes. There are also gift boxes going out with ham, vegetables and goodies to bake.”

“It’s wonderful. It’s a blessing,” Glenda Shellman said. “Some of us can’t afford things but thanks to Steve Sikes, he is a good man, so I want to thank him very much. Merry Christmas.”

It’s hard for a lot of families right now,” Victoria Raimer said. “So just seeing our community come together and do so much for families that don’t have anything…the fact that the Sheriff’s Department is doing the best they can in helping the children in our community, I really appreciate it.”
