With one candidate going public and countless others still thinking it over, the 2007 election season has officially kicked off.
Residents in the cities of Allenhurst, Gum Branch, Hinesville, Riceboro and Walthourville will vote in this year’s municipal elections to choose their city’s decision makers of the next four years.
After holding elections in 2005, Midway and Flemington will not be involved in this year’s races.
Candidates interested in running for city offices have already started filing notices of intention, but the closing date to have names placed on election ballots is Aug. 31.
There will be a number of other major dates for registering, filing and voting and as dates near, the Courier will publish reminders.
