Children ages 6 to 17 who have experienced the death of a loved one within the past 24 months are invited to attend a weekend overnight camp organized by nonprofit Hospice Savannah’s Full Circle bereavement staff and volunteers.
Camp Aloha will be May 2-4 at the New Ebenezer Retreat Center in Rincon and is free to participants, thanks to the sponsorship of the Kaminsky Automotive Group. Trained volunteers and professionals will provide therapeutic activities to teach the children that they are not alone in their grief. Campers will have access to an array of activities, such as swimming, sports, games, painting, group therapy sessions, camp fires, singing, playing and making new friends who have experienced losses, too.
For more information, call Full Circle bereavement counselor Barbara Moss at 912-303-9442. A video from last year’s camp, which explains the bereavement activities in more detail, and application forms are available at www.HospiceSavannah.org/CampAloha.
