Voters will soon have a chance to meet the candidates in Liberty County’s municipal elections.

The Liberty County Joint Political Forum Committee, with representatives from several organizations, is organizing a political forum during which voters will have the chance to hear from candidates in contested races for city council and mayor in Hinesville, Riceboro and Walthourville.

The forum is scheduled for 5:30-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, in the Liberty County Performing Arts Center, 2140 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Flemington.

Questions for the mayoral candidates may be submitted in advance by email at forum@coastalcourier.com. Audience members may also submit written questions during the forum.

Candidates for the contested city council seats will speak first, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The mayoral candidates’ forum will begin at 6:40 p.m.

The Joint Political Forum Committee includes the following partners: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., AUSA, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Community of Inspired Women Inc., Liberty County Branch of the NAACP, Liberty County Chamber of Commerce, Liberty County Democratic Party and Liberty County Republican Party.
