County sets candidate qualifying fees

The Liberty County Commission set qualifying fees Tuesday, ahead of the May 20 primary election. The general election will be Nov. 4.
The qualifying fee for commission district seats 1, 2 or 3 costs $54. Board of education district seats 4, 5 or 6 cost $180, and the qualifying fee to run for school-board chair is $256.
Marion Stevens, Sr. serves as District 1 commissioner. Justin L. Frasier is commissioner for District 2 at present, and Connie Thrift occupies the District 3 seat.
Lily Baker is BoE chairwoman. Board mem-
bers Marcia Anderson, Harold Woods and Becky Carter serve districts 4, 5 and 6, respectively.
Qualifying begins at 9 a.m. March 3 and ends at noon March 7. Candidates must qualify at the Board of Elections and Registration in suite 1600 in the courthouse, 100 N. Main St., Hinesville. Call 876-3310.
