The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to find Michael James Waller Jr after he allegedly led deputies on a high speed chase Saturday.

According to Chief of Detectives Tracy Jennings, deputies tried to stop a blue Toyota Avalon near Highway 84 and Liberty County High School but the driver, later identified Waller Jr., sped up and drove onto Leroy Coffer and Highway 17 into Richmond Hill and then onto Interstate 95 southbound.

While on 95, LCSO deputies used the PIT maneuver to end the chase. Waller’s vehicle lost control and flipped into the median wood line landing on its roof.

As deputies approached the vehicle Waller was spotted with a rifle he was aiming at something, according to LSCO.

As the deputies approached the vehicle Waller threw the rifle down and was taken into custody. He was injured during the chase and was flown by medical helicopter to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

Waller was released before authorities were able to charge him. He is a 23-year-old white male, about 5 foot 7 and 225 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Jennings said Waller is wanted for aggravated assault of a police officer and is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with any information on the location of Waller is urged to call Detective Michael Kent Jr. at the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at (912) 876-4555 or after hours at (912) 368-3911.  Information related to the incident should be directed to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at (912) 876-4555.
