The Hinesville downtown farmers market will open its third regular season Thursday, May 3, on Commerce Street and in Bradwell Park.

The market opens at 4 p.m. for sales, with a ribbon cutting and welcoming ceremony in Bradwell Park. The first 100 shoppers will receive a free 2012 farmer’s market canvas tote provided by this year’s season sponsor, Liberty County Farm Bureau.

The market, which runs from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. on Thursdays from May through October, is expected to feature about 15 vendors at its opening, with the number of vendors increasing as local produce comes in season. Items expected to be available include produce, grass-fed beef, organic meats, eggs, bread, candies, pasta, honey and dog treats.

The regular season will feature newcomers to the market family such as Flat Land Farms and Farnsworth Family Farm, as well as the return of many veteran vendors.

Vendor applications will be accepted throughout the entire season with the option for vendors to participate weekly or seasonally.
