Faith Baptist Church will host “God and Country Day” at 11 a.m. Sunday at 12 S. McDonald St. in Ludowici.
Retired Marine and Vietnam veteran Dr. Don Chitty will be the guest speaker. While in the Marines, Chitty was wounded several times in Vietnam, with one of his wounds being so severe that he initially was thought to be dead and was placed in a body bag.
During his service in the armed forces, he received three Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star and two Presidential Citations. After he concluded his military service, Chitty said he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1970, and a year later was called to preach.
In 1977, he founded the Open Bible Baptist Church in New Mexico. In 1981, the church expanded to offer a Christian school.
According to FBC Pastor Terry Sellars, Chitty is a true “honored soldier of God.”
The public is invited. For more information, call 545-9136.
