Liberty County School System Interim Superintendent Dr. Franklin Perry has been selected as the only finalist in the district's search for a new superintendent.

Board of Education members unanimously approved him as the finalist during a called meeting this morning. Board members Verdell Jones and Dr. Yvette Keel were not in attendance. 

Perry took the interim position earlier this year in June after former superintendent Dr. Valya Lee left the system in May due to a “mutual agreement” with the board. 

At the meeting Board Chairwoman Lily Baker said she wanted to name two people as finalists and decided to "abide by the board's decision to bring one name and sole finalist." 

The board will name Perry the new superintendent in approximately two weeks.
