The Liberty County School System recently announced that it will hold a community spirit rally in preparation for the Bradwell Institute vs. Liberty High School football game.

The first “Battle of the Cats” spirit rally will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Olvey Field. Pastor Richard Hayes will serve as the master of ceremonies.

The event is designed to showcase the two high schools’ bands, auxiliary units, cheerleaders and football players as they prepare for the cross-county football game, which is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Donnell Woods Stadium.

“This spirit rally will provide the community with an opportunity to show unified support for the Liberty County School System as well as both schools,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Valya S. Lee said. “We are excited to showcase the talents of our students and are looking forward to making this community spirit rally an annual event.”

The centerpiece of the event is a battle of the bands. Admission is free, but donations received will benefit both schools’ bands.
