East Liberty County American Legion Post 321 is having their annual 9/11 Observance at the Midway Fire Department on E. Oglethorpe Highway on Sept. 11 from 5 pm to 7 pm. The annual Walk 2 Remember 343 event is being held at Devaul Henderson Park, Richmond Hill Sept. 11 starting at 8 am. The 2ndannual walk aims to honor the 343 New York Fire Fighters who died on Sept. 11, 2001. For more information go to https://sites.google.com/kloud-ix.com/walk2remember343.

Fort Stewart

Public Law 107-89 designates Sept. 11 as Patriot Day. According to the proclamation, “all departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the United States and interested organizations and individuals to display the flag of the United States at half-staff on Patriot Day in honor of the individuals who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States that occurred on September 11, 2001.”

In addition, people are asked to observe a moment of silence on Patriot Day.
