Long County has named Frank Etheridge as its first county administrator after a 3-0 vote Tuesday during a called meeting.
Long County Commission Chairman Mike Riddle and commissioners Clifton DeLoach and Willie Thomson voted in favor of Etheridge, who will be paid $61,000 annually and begin work June 20.
Commissioner David Richardson abstained and Commissioner Bobby Walker was not at the meeting.
Etheridge, meanwhile, is no stranger to the area or to government. He previously served as Pembroke city administrator and in Glynn County as a planning manager.
He is currently county administrator of Twiggs County. He’s also served as a planning director.
Etheridge has a master’s degree in public administration from Troy University and a Bachelor of Arts in geography from the University of Georgia.
“I talked to Frank this afternoon and he appreciated the opportunity to become our new county administrator and that he looks forward to becoming a part of our community,” Riddle said Tuesday evening.
