A machine press being moved this weekend from Savannah to LaGrange may cause overnight traffic-flow issues on Interstates 16 and 75.

The press, which weighs more than 600,000 pounds, is scheduled to be moved from the Port of Savannah to a Sewon America plant in LaGrange. The move will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday from the Ocean Terminal, go west on I-16 and then go north on Interstate 75 at Macon, with all movements happening during the night and in conjunction with a multiple vehicle law-enforcement escort. The first part of the move will conclude about 2:40 a.m. Sunday at the weigh station in Forsyth. The second leg of the trip will start about 9 p.m. Sunday toward LaGrange.

The transport vehicle will be 18 feet wide and will move about 45 mph. Motorists are advised to exercise caution around the move and follow law officials’ instructions.
