Midway Arts Festival is Saturday
Free event features art, music, historical speakers

The 8thannual Midway Arts Festival is 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Midway church, museum and art gallery at Highway 17 and Martin Road.

Local artists and crafters will display their work, and there will be live musical performances and presentations. Buddy Sullivan will speak about Roswell King, who managed Pierce Butler’s rice plantation. Other speakers will discuss St. Catherines Island and the Liberty Independent Troop, which is opening a museum in downtown Hinesville on May 4.

Children also can participate in free art projects during the event.

There also will be arts and food vendors as well as cemetery tours at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, cemetery tours are $10 for adults, $5 for children.
