Prescribed burn on Fort Stewart

A prescribed fire is being conducted today, March 8, in Liberty County.  Residents of Liberty, Long, Wayne and Tattnall counties may see and smell smoke from the fire, which is being conducted by Fort Stewart Forestry.    

The prescribed burn is being conducted by trained practitioners to reduce hazardous forest fire fuels and improve wildlife habitat. It is a safe way to apply a natural process and reduce the risk of wildfires. The burn should be complete by 6:00 p.m.
