A Fort Stewart soldier died in a single-vehicle accident in Long County early Saturday.

Assistant Chief Richard Truman said the Long County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Horse Creek Road around 3 a.m. Truman said, when he arrived, he found a man, who had been thrown out of his vehicle, trapped under it. The man was alive as members from Truman’s department and the Hinesville Fire Department got the vehicle off him.

According to Truman, LifeStar came from Glynn County, but was not used. The victim was pronounced dead at Liberty Regional Medical Center.

Rincon State Patrol commander, Sgt 1st Class Bruce DeLoach, confirmed the man, whose identity had not been released pending notification of relatives, was assigned to Fort Stewart.
