A 25-year-old Fort Stewart soldier killed Saturday in a single-vehicle accident has been identified as Jonathan Glick.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper Glen Walters said Glick left a friend’s home on Horse Creek Road shortly before 3 a.m. and headed to his own home about 2 miles down the same road.

Walters said Glick’s 2003 Ford Explorer drifted off the road and hit the shoulder. The soldier reportedly overcorrected, the SUV flipped and Glick was ejected. The vehicle landed upright on top of the soldier, who was semiconscious when emergency personnel arrived, according to Walters.

A medical helicopter arrived on the scene but wasn’t needed. Glick was taken by ambulance to Liberty Regional Medical Center where he later was pronounced dead.

Walters said Glick was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, which still is under investigation by the GSP.
