Zaxby's fans pack lot Monday for free food

To celebrate the grand opening of its first Liberty County restaurant, Zaxby’s gave away one free menu item per week for the next year to the first 100 customers in line Monday morning. By 9 a.m., the parking lot was crowded and the line easily exceeded 100 people. The first customer to arrive, Charles Heatwole of Hinesville, said he had been in line since 11:30 p.m. Sunday night.

Located at 403 E. Oglethorpe Highway, the restaurant will operate 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday. The grand opening festivities kick off at 10:30 a.m. today. With seating for 90, the 3,847 square-foot location offers dine-in and drive-thru services.
