Long County home destroyed by fire

A fire at a home in the the 100 block of Factory St has left a family of fire displaced Wednesday afternoon. 

According to Long/Ludowici Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Captain Nick Maxwell the fire began shortly after 3 p.m. Maxwell said when firefighters arrived heavy black smoke and flames were pouring from the single family dwelling structure. Maxwell said  the home is a total loss. 

Agencies from Liberty County Fire Services, the Department of Corrections, Hinesvuille fire Department and the Walthourville Fire Department assisted in fighting the fire.

No injuries were reported however, two adults and three 3 children have been displaced.

If you would like to help the family of 5 who lost their home in Ludowici Long/Ludowici Fire and Rescue Fire Chief Chris Moss sent me a message to just have donations dropped off at Long County Fire Department station 1, located at 127 Thorton Street, Ludowici, GA 31316. Another drop off location is Superior Real Estate Services, 271 S. McDonald Street, Ludowici, GA 31316 or call 912-545-7641.

The kids are also in need of school supplies to include book bags.
