The board also hired Harper and Company Construction of Douglas for further additions at Smiley Elementary School. Assistant Superintendent Dr. Glenn Purcell said the work will increase in the size of the cafeteria, the paving of the parking area adjacent to Veterans Field, and a new wing of classrooms.
Purcell said the cafeteria will be expanded first, then the parking lot and then the classrooms.  He said the work is to be completed by the beginning of the 2010-11 school year.
Earlier this year, a ten-classroom modular building was added in anticipation of growth at the school.
