Midway Council lacks quorum, reschedules
Midway seal
The city of Midway will next meet at 6 p.m. Monday, July 23. The council canceled its regular meeting on Monday.
Midway Mayor Levern Clancy Jr. notified interested parties in a memo dated July 6 that there would be no quorum if the council assembled on July 9.
Midway has four council members; a minimum of three is needed to conduct official business.
A city official said one council member was on vacation and a second one had another obligation on the day of the regularly scheduled council meeting.
Councilwoman Melice Gerace said she knew nothing about the situation except for the information in the mayor’s memo.
Midway usually has two council meetings each month, the formal second-Monday evening session and a morning work session on the fourth Monday.
The session that would have been held June 25 was canceled because of the Georgia Municipal Association meeting in Savannah.
