The last iteration of soldiers from the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division recently departed for Fort Irwin, Calif.
Nearly 300 Vanguard soldiers will support the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team’s rotation to the National Training Center.
More than 20 separate military occupational specialties are on hand to conduct operations.
“Our primary mission is to provide world class support to the 3rd HBCT as they conduct their training,” 4th IBCT plans officer Capt. James Platky said.
Soldiers from the 3rd HBCT are the first to test and train in this type of full-spectrum Decisive Action Training Environment.
While they are in the box, fighting the maneuver battle, they will be linked to various support units at other locations.
Virtual training and gaming makes it possible to network several units together, training multiple echelons simultaneously.
Combined Arms Center officials see the new NTC exercise as part of an Army “revolution” in training.
The exercise continues throughout March.
