East Liberty County American Legion Post 321 will host its monthly meeting Dec. 6 at Captain Joe’s Restaurant, beginning at 6 p.m. with a get together for dinner. The meeting will follow at 7 p.m. All post members any other interested veterans are encouraged to attend.
Also, the post will conduct its second Flag Retirement and Disposal Ceremony at 6 p.m. Dec. 8. This ceremony is designed to properly destroy our National Colors with the respect they deserve. All are invited to attend and observe this simple but reverent ceremony. It will take place on the grounds of the Midway Museum on Highway 17.
According to the post’s finance officer, AJ Schmitt, the ceremony is a great opportunity for all to learn more about the respect due the nation’s flag.
Just prior to the ceremony, from 3-6 p.m., the post will host a fish fry. The cost is $5 and includes a huge serving of fried fish, homemade hush puppies, slaw and a dessert.
For more information about these events, call Schmitt at 884-2730 or Commander Fitzgerald at 884-2830 or 980-5204 or e-mail eastlibertyampost321@yahoo.com
