The last 26 soldiers from 3rd Infantry Division's headquarters returned home Wednesday afternoon, marking an end to their year-long deployment to Afghanistan.

Maj. Gen. James Rainey, Commanding General of the 3rd Infantry Division, and Command Sgt. Maj. Christoper Gilpin, Division Command Sgt. Maj., unfurled the division's colors, officially recognizing their return. After a short speech from the commanding general, the soldiers were released to their families and friends.
