A woman and her two children were been displaced after their Hummingbird Lane home was destroyed by fire early Friday morning.

Long County Fire Department Incident Commander Bob Heffley said firefighters arrived at the scene and at first thought the family was still inside the home. But it turns out they were staying with family in Riceboro, according to Heffley.

Multiple units assisted the Long County Fire department. While they managed to put out the fire, the home and shed were completely destroyed. The fire was reported shortly before 1 a.m. Feb. 18. The fire is under investigation on what may have caused it.
