A victim of an apparent shark bite was taken to a local hospital Wednesday afternoon.

The U.S. Coast Guard’s Charleston, S.C., command center was alerted about an incident off Ossabaw Island around 4 p.m. Wednesday, and Coast Guard watchstanders reached out to Liberty County EMS and coordinated with the boat to meet an ambulance at the dock near the Sunbury Crab Company.

The victim was transferred to EMS.
