Ludowici recently received a community development block grant for $295,316 from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
The grant will be used to repair and renovate the water tower on Church Street. Work will include repairing, cleaning, servicing and painting the inside and outside of the structure to upgrade the water tower and will help remove rust from the water.
The grant was presented to Ludowici by Gov. Sonny Perdue and was accepted on behalf of the city by Councilwoman Gwendolyn Davis.
DCA Commissioner Mike Beatty conducted the ceremony on Sept. 7 in Savannah.
“The money from this grant will help tremendously in Ludowici. We have brownish water and once this work is done, we hope it will take care of the problem,” Davis said.
“There is a lot of work which needs to be done in the city, and I am hoping to work as much as I can on getting more grants for Ludowici,” she said.
