Murder suspect captured locally

According to Assistant Liberty County SWAT Team Commander, Lt Korone Robinson, the Liberty County SWAT team assisted the US Marshals Office in arresting a murder suspect Gregory Collins, 22 of Maryland.  

According to Robinson the suspect was tracked to an address in the 800 block of Lisa Street in Hinesville. Robinson said there was a short standoff between the suspect and the SWAT team, but he eventually surrendered and is in custody at the Liberty County Jail.

According to news station WUSA9, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office identified Collins as a suspect in the murder of a 7-Eleven clerk in Waldorf, Maryland earlier this month.

Collins allegedly murdered Lynn Marie Maher, 40.

The shooting happened around 1 a.m. on Oct. 1 at the 7-Eleven on Middletown Road in Waldorf. Charles County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Diane Richardson said the shooting happened within seconds of Collins entering the store and demanding money
