The Hospice Savannah Art Gallery, located at 1352 Eisenhower Drive, will present the palette knife paintings of David Ryden and ceramics by potter Neil Austing during July and August. Meet the artists at their opening reception: Thursday, July 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Hospice Savannah Art Gallery is located at Hospice House, 1352 Eisenhower Drive.
David Ryden is a self-taught artist who creates large-scale, texture-rich canvases using an 8-inch palette knife. He has quickly become a favorite of the local art community and is represented in galleries in North and South Carolina and in Illinois. Friend and fellow Landings resident Neil Austing has been creating one-of-a-kind raku pots for the past seven years. Only one out of two pots survive the demanding raku glaze firing process, but the end result is a totally unique crackled finish ranging in color from bright turquoise to dark brown, copper or black.
A portion of all sales will benefit Hospice Savannah; Inc. Neil has generously agreed to donate 100% of pottery proceeds.
