The death of a 49-year-old Long County man has been confirmed to being investigated as a homicide, according to Long County Sheriff's Department Chief Det. Ty Smith.
"We don't have any further information that we can put out, but we can confirm that the death is being investigated as a homicide," Smith said.
According to earlier reports, the body of Bill Greenwood was found past Saturday around 9 a.m. between his mobile home and an adjacent mobile home at Aaron's Mobile Home Park.
The detective said on Saturday, that the cause of death appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head, but as of Tuesday, this still was not confirmed.
Smith said Grreenwood's body had been turned over to the crime lab in Savannah, but no autopsy report was available.
Smith said he could not discuss possible motives or other details of the apparent crime.
We don't have anything to release at this time. We are going a mile-a-minute on this case, and are doing everything we can to try to determine exactly what happened."
In addition to the LCSD, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is also investigating.
