ATLANTA — Damon Elmore, an Atlanta-area HR executive and Georgia lawyer, is determined to put the wheels of his bike down in every Georgia county, hoping to raise more than $31,000 for the Georgia Legal Services Program and Willie Dean Ministries in Atlanta.
Elmore plans to be in Bryan County today.
“I am still relatively new to cycling, and I enjoy the variety of scenes and terrain Georgia offers,” Elmore said. “This includes the valleys I’ve seen in Harris or orchards in Macon County, waterfalls in Monroe and Greene and the mountains in Pickens. I haven’t even begun the coastal counties, like my beloved Chatham.”
But this isn’t just a casual outing. There is one other reason that has been the crux of his quest.
“Cycling for me is important, and it has helped me adopt a healthier lifestyle. In addition to the wonderful scenes I see, there are fantastic Georgia families I meet that I know need help,” Elmore said.
Help that is provided by the Georgia Legal Services Program across the state and through Willie Dean Ministries and their community center in Atlanta, he said.
“I now ride hoping to raise awareness for them. If all goes well, I would love to raise $15,900 per organization to represent the 159 counties in Georgia,” Elmore said.
