ud Frankenthaler of Hinesville receives the first-place award for 2007 in his age group based on totaling the best four results in the Georgia State Park series of triathlons.

Frankenthaler had three gold medals and two silvers for the 2007 season. This is his second year winning the series. At his age, he said, perseverance counts more than performance. He encourages everyone to make their first goal to finish every race and the second goal to do a little better than the last race. The awards banquet was hosted at the Concourse Athletic Club in Atlanta.

Frankenthaler was accompanied by his wife, Barbara, and his oldest granddaughter, Jaynie Gaskin, an honors student at Agnes Scott College in Duluth.
