Canoochee River Family Paddle
To join us for a fun, family-friendly paddle down the Canoochee River, e-mail Dianna Wedincamp at dwedincamp@ocrk.org or call (866)942-1115. Cost is $25 for current OCRK members and $35 for nonmembers. Canoe rentals are available for an additional $25.
Details
9 a.m.: Registration/shuttle. Paddlers will meet at Bryan County park on U.S. Highway 280 at the Canoochee (Groveland) and from there will travel to the put-in at Daisy Nevil Bridge.
9:30 a.m.: Participants will begin the paddle from Daisy Nevil Bridge to U.S. Highway 280 at the Canoochee (Groveland).
11 a.m.: Participants will eat lunch on one of the many white sandbars along the rivers edge.
12:30 p.m.: Participants will take-out at the 280 bridge.
12:35 p.m.: Participants may choose to join river story-telling time.
1:30 p.m.: Paddle and storytelling will end.

STATESBORO — The Ogeechee-Canoochee annual Canoochee River Race has been replaced by a Family Paddle. Ogeechee-Canoochee Riverkeeper has scheduled the Family Paddle for Saturday, April 11 (rain/flood date April 25).
Paddlers from all over the Southeast will spend the day paddling down the beautiful Canoochee.
“We are really excited to be able to showcase the beauty of the Canoochee with families from around the Southeast,” said Chandra Brown, executive director and Riverkeeper. “The Canoochee River Race has been wildly popular, and we are really excited to change the format to be more family-friendly and provide a leisurely experience on the Canoochee.”
During the paddle, participants will enjoy a bag lunch, Dutch Treat, on one of the many sandbars along the river’s edge. The scenery is perfect for bird watching, photography and wildlife viewing. In addition to the great scenery, OCRK will have a storytelling session at the end of the paddle. Participants are welcome to stay and tell their river experiences.

The paddle includes several guides with knowledge about the Canoochee River and its people. This is a relaxing paddle to enjoy with your family.
