TYBEE ISLAND — Tybee Island has been named a 2011 Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.
After review and consultation with local cyclists, the league recognized Tybee Island at the bronze level, celebrating the city’s commitment to bicycling.
“This is quite an honor for our little community,” Tybee Island Mayor Jason Buelterman said. “We are proud to be the second city in the state of Georgia to receive this designation and plan on continuing to work toward the highest level of accreditation as a bike-friendly community.”
