Qualifying for Hinesville City Council begins in 11 days, and community organizer Marcello Page has tossed his hat in the ring for District 1.
“I really think that the lesson I’ve taken away from all of my life challenges is that if we all work together, we can achieve a lot and improve everyone’s quality of life,” Page said in a release. “I’ve noticed how underrepresented various groups are in our community, such as those who are not included in some decision-making processes.
“The government is supposed to belong to the people. I believe that the community would like another outcome to take place, and I will ensure that your concerns will be heard and treated with respect.”
Page said his platform will focus on moving Hinesville and his planks include: economic growth and leisure; enhance public safety; property tax relief; increase housing; improve infrastructure; and youth development.
“Hinesville can continue to be a fantastic area to live, work, and raise a family if these issues are addressed,” he said.
“Yes, I’m a young political outsider, but I have an untethered passion for the community that runs through my veins,” Page continued. “I truly love my community and believe that I am capable of keeping the peace, getting along with everyone at all levels, and developing fresh ideas that hold different approaches that will improve and help grow this community.
“I know the wants and needs of our community, and change needs to be put in motion right now. I will always put the community first and be of service to those who are in need of it. I am not the type to make false convictions and promises that I know I will not be able to keep. Your needs and wants will be my main focus and priority.”
The general election will be held November 7 at the Charles Shuman Center. Early voting will take place October 16-November 3 at the Historic Liberty County Courthouse.
