The Long County Sheriff’s Office joined several other area law-enforcement agencies Sept. 4 to make a sweep in the western part of Long County and in Tattnall County, arresting 18 individuals charged with various drug felonies.

Those who had been arrested by Tuesday, including their charges, were:

• Roosevelt Tootle, two counts of illegally possessing a controlled substance.

Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles said other agencies involved with the sweep were the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office and the Glennville and Reidsville police departments.

Nobles said that multijurisdictional projects like this are effective because criminals often jump from county to county to dodge law enforcement.

“We are trying to reduce the problem of illegal drug use in Tattnall and Long. When we work with other agencies, it is very effective because we are able to pool our resources together, put together all of our information and then bring down these criminals,” Nobles said.
