A Savannah woman was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a single-vehicle wreck in Liberty County.
According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Russell Taunton, the woman, identified as Marlene Solana Sparks, 27, was driving east on Highway 196 at about 2 p.m.
As the woman approached Luke Road on a four-lane stretch of the highway, she swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle and lost control of her 2001 Mitsubishi Montero, Taunton said.
The trooper said the vehicle flipped several times, ejecting Sparks from the car. Three other passengers in the vehicle, two children, ages 2 and 3 years old, and a 32-year-old man, were treated at the scene for minor injuries and released.
The woman was flown by Life Star helicopter to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
She was listed in critical condition on Tuesday.
According to Taunton, the woman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.
The incident occurred less than three miles from a fatal wreck on Friday morning in which a Hinesville man was killed as a result from a head-on collision.
