A current 3rd Infantry Division soldier and a former soldier were killed during the weekend in what civilian law-enforcement investigators are calling a domestic dispute.
Miranda Nichols was found dead from a gunshot Saturday outside her mother’s Vidalia home. Spc. Samuel Tellu was found dead from a gunshot Sunday inside his vehicle in Montgomery County.
Tellu was assigned to the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade as a petroleum specialist. He had 2-1/2 years of service with one deployments.
Nichols served in the 3rd ID and the Georgia National Guard.
Third ID and Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield officials have expressed condolences to the families and friends of Tellu and Nichols.
The incident remains under investigation. Agents from the U.S. Army’s Criminal Investigation Command are assisting.
