Burglary
July 22 –
While on routine patrol along Wilma Edwards Road, Deputy Joseph Waters saw a man standing next to a car with the trunk open. Knowing that the residents of the house were not home, Waters turned around to investigate but the vehicle was gone. After searching for the vehicle to no avail, Waters returned to the house, which was unlocked. In a walk-through of the house, he said it looked as though the house had been burglarized. After deputies later made contact with the residents, they learned that about $175 in cash, $500 in electronics and some jewelry had been taken.

An Ellabell man was arrested for DUI after deputies found him riding a four-wheeler down Hwy. 204 with an open beer can in a mounted cupholder. Cpl. Kenneth Squires got the man to stop at the intersection of Arden Loop and Arden Park roads. When he stepped off of the four-wheeler, Squires said the man was unsteady on his feet and also smelled of alcohol. The man admitted he’d been drinking and said, “Yep, I had a few and was only trying to get home.” After testing positive for alcohol, the man was taken to the county jail.
