A Friday-morning fire destroyed a home in eastern Liberty County.
Riceboro Volunteer Fire and Rescue Chief Dennis Fitzgerald said the home, in the 3400 block of Barrington Ferry Road, was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene shortly before 7 a.m.
Fitzgerald said it took roughly 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control and several hours to put out hot spots.
The chief said the home was occupied by a man, who suffered a cut on his arm while leaving the single-story structure made of wood and bricks. The man was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center for treatment, and his condition was not immediately available.
The fire's origin is undermined at this time and is under investigation, Fitzgerald said.
Firefighters from Midway, Walthourville and the Eastern District also responded to the fire.
